My future in parody writing was predestined when I was born into a family of writers who enjoyed listening to Tom Lehrer, Stan Freberg, and Allan Sherman. However, although I inherited musical genes (my father was a drummer and my mother a keyboard player) I have never pursued instrument playing, and the best I can do is plink out simple melodies on my Casio. This, along with the fact that my vocal range is approximately one octave wide, is why I never perform my parodies. I leave that to others, especially to the gang on the Black Knight and Squire G Show (www.bksgshow.com). By sheer coincidence, they found a Christmas parody of mine that covered a topic they were discussing on the show. It was the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
I have also created a website for my parodies. You can find it at www.parodyman.com. Whenever I get a recording of one of my parodies I post it there, so if you are interested you can go forth and listen.
Unfortunately, I am not (yet) making a living as a parodist, so in my other life I work in Information Technology. Although over the years I have been jostled from position to position, my number one career is as a writer of user manuals, online help, training guides, website content...basically any technical information that a company wants to provide to its customers. And having said that, I am surprised that I have not written more parodies about technology...hmmm, gotta go now.
