We should shop a lot.
Two months of holiday shopping without any stopping
Is what the shopkeepers plan
Registers ringing and everyone bringing
Their credit cards to be scanned
And mom and dad will overspend on little Jen and Dan.

They're enticing us to the shops with all of their Christmas props
Like sales and visits from that Santa guy.

Causing me dismay;
I'm beginning to fear the day when the holiday displays
Start on Labor Day.

I am a complete Christmas-aholic...
...(I would listen to Christmas music year 'round if the other folks in the office didn't want to choke me...and I say anything after Halloween is fair game, music wise. The decorations have to wait until the day after Thanksgiving, though...)
...so even I had to do a little double take at the Christmas decorations that have been up at a store downtown since the first of October. Great job, Rex!

I agree totally with you! Christmas began just a little too early this year; I've already seen a Christmas tree lot being set up and two houses with their lights up (one just a few days before Samhain!) Christmas is my favorite holiday, I'll give you that, but personally I would have waited another week or so before putting the decorations up... ahh, the new religions of this country: Commercialism, Consumerism, and Materialism.
