These are true stories, with just a bit of artistic license taken. You can read more about these and other moments of brain loss at www.darwinawards.com.
When Todd Adams went to see
Baseball in two-oh-oh-three
His shades
Fell down to the lower deck
So he thought that he would jump
Slide a pole and pick 'em up
But then
He missed and he pancaked

I wanna know, have you ever had a brain?
I wanna know, have you ever had a brain?
Does a thought cause you strain?

Transport tanks of gasoline
Drained and ready to be cleaned
It was
So dark down inside those things
So that he could better see
Manoel Batista C.
Met God
When he lit his lighter

I wanna know, have you ever had a brain?
I wanna know, have you ever had a brain?
Does a thought cause you strain?
[repeat and fade]

555 Rex. I have seen that DA story on the guy who used a match/lighter in the tanker truck and several comments that debunk it, but it's ok. ( Lights go out in house, smells natural gas, let me get my lighter.........................................)

Ant, there may be several stories floating around based on the true one, but I believe the Darwin Awards folks when they say they have confirmed this as true and cite their sources. They tell the story at http://www.darwinawards.com/darwin/index_darwin2003.html - title "Workin' At the Car Wash".

The story may be true, but exaggerated. See comments 5 and 8. Also, DA was fooled at first by the JATO rocket car story. I have also seen " Mythbusters " in the episode where they launch the dummy from the drainage pipe, and without a " sabot " to seal off the gasses, he did not launch as that myth went.

I like the bloke who put on a parachute and strapped himself to a rocket, just ASSUMING the rocket would travel vertically

of course it would have worked beautifully if his body weight hadn't dragged the trajectory back to the horizontal a few seconds after lift-off, and if that darned cliff-face hadn't been there

5s for the laughs, Rex

Funny stuff; love the DAs. My fave was the one where the kid fell off a cliff swinging from the Warning sign. Anyway, good job.
