Song Parodies -> "Since U Been Pwned"

Original Song Title:

"Since U Been Gone"

Original Performer:

Kelly Clarkson

Parody Song Title:

"Since U Been Pwned"

Parody Written by:

Rex Ungericht

The Lyrics

In video game parlance, to "pwn" someone is to defeat them in a humiliating fashion. It likely comes from a mis-typing of "own". There is no standard pronounciation for the word, so for purposes of this parody, "pwn" rhymes with "gone". Don't Know The Original Song (DKTOS)? It's on YouTube.
Here's the thing, we started out friends
It was cool but it hit an end
Yeah yeah
Since U been pwned

You're dedicated to shooter games
But you found I have better aim
Yeah yeah
Since U been pwned

And all I ever hear you say
Is how I must have cheated you
Get over it, c'mon let's play

And since U been pwned
You've been calling me pond slime
You're mad and withdrawn
Yeah yeah
C'mon dude, just admit you got beat
Since U been pwned

How can I put it? You lost I won
You prob'ly still hear my submachine gun
Yeah yeah
Since U been pwned

You text me everyday and say
You are gonna make me pay
You need to learn it's just a game

But since U been pwned
All your base* have become mine
Your hope is all gone
Yeah yeah
Like a noob you're the git (the git) that I hunt
Since U been pwned

You had your chance, you blew it
"It's not fair" you just whine
Fragged your arse and I'll just do it
Again and again and again and again

Since U been pwned (since u been pwned)
I've moved up to the big time
I'm taking you on
Yeah yeah
Thanks to you (thanks to you)
Now I know, I know I can win
I just made level two-nine
I spawn and respawn
Yeah yeah
In my view (Is that you?)
I've been hit (I'm hit!)
I got mowed (Man this blows)
And I heard, I just heard your taunt

I just got pwned
I just got pwned
I just got pwned

*"All your base are belong to us" is a famous meme from the poorly-translated game Zero Wing.

It's pronounced "powned" not "pawned" but that's not that big of a deal because it doesn't really rhyme with anything so one can still think "powned" while reading your parody. Other than that however I really enjoyed this one. Loved the inclusion of "All your base are belong to us" and you stepping out of your comfort zone to write a parody about online gaming.

That's what I get for using Wikipedia: "Because pwn is primarily used in written form, it has no single generally accepted pronunciation: renditions include ohn, pohn, pawn, and pee-ohn."

Oops, I realized my previous comment could be taken sarcastically. To put it another way, I'll trust Matty on the pronunciation before I'll trust some anonymous Wikipedia poster. So just pretend it's "pawn" for this parody. And on another note, the day I pwn anyone on a video game is the first day of the apocalypse.

This one makes it to the next level.

I always thought "pawned" was acceptable, as it has similar meaning in a chess game context. Nevertheless, you pwned the topic.

(Artistry) You've definitly prestiged in parody writing for this one! (That's C.O.D. (Call of Duty) talk for an increase in status for those of you who aren't gamers). Awesome job!

(Artistry) Pride cometh before a fall. Or at least before a heavy volley of missiles in this case. Fantastic parody here, loved the use of "git" and "arse". 555 achievements!

This was pretty fun Rex, very clever word choice, and it fit the emotions expressed by Kelly in the original, I also like how generic it is as it can be applied to just about any shooter the way its written
