Some songs have titles that aren't used in the lyrics, and end up becoming better known for their lyrics than their title. Bob Dylan's "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35" is better known for the refrain "Everybody must get stoned" than it is for the title.

| Sgt. Barry Sadler | Ballad Of The Green Berets | Not surprisingly, neither the word "ballad" nor the phrase "ballad of" tend to be found in the lyrics of songs whose titles begin with that phrase. This one might be simply called "The Green Berets", from its obvious subject matter. The opening line, "Fighting soldiers from the sky" might also be cited as an apparent "title", but I suspect that that is less likely. - Thessaly Danes | ||
| Shabutie | Zut | The lyrics are ridiculous, and amazing, but not ridiculous enough to have "Zut" thrown in =] - Katy | ||

| The Smiths | How Soon Is Now? | "When you say it's gonna happen "now" Well, when exactly do you mean? See I've already waited too long and all my hope is gone." That just about as close to mentioning "How Soon Is Now?" as the song got. - British Bullcrap | ||
| Snow Patrol | Chocolate | This could be the very minute I'm aware I'm alive All these places feel like home With a name I'd never chosen I can make my first steps As a child of 25 This is the straw, final straw in the Roof of my mouth as I lie to you Just because I'm sorry doesn't mean I didn't enjoy it at the time You're the only thing that I love It scares me more every day On my knees I think clearer Goodness knows I saw it coming Or at least I'll claim I did But in truth I'm lost for words What have I done it's too late for that What have I become truth is nothing yet A simple mistake starts the hardest time I promise I'll do anything you ask...this time - Zakery "The Weird Man" Wood | ||

| Stereophonics | Dakota | The chorus is "I don't know where we are going now." The line "Wake up thinking of you" is used a few times so could be the title, but instead it's 'Dakota' which doesn't occur anywhere in the lyrics. - Chris | ||
| Steve Forbert | Romeo's Tune | The title wasn't in the lyrics, and the lyrics had nothing to do with Shakespeare's "Romeo & Juliet". - Bill Medley of Hits | ||
