Some songs have titles that aren't used in the lyrics, and end up becoming better known for their lyrics than their title. Bob Dylan's "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35" is better known for the refrain "Everybody must get stoned" than it is for the title.
Band | Song | Comments & Submittor Name | ||
| Fair To Midland | Dance of the Manatee | Hang us those limbs, hold no virtue, Those told to hold, project on my cue, until we fall - Matt Barnett | ||
| Faith No More | Epic | What...is...it? Video is famous for the "fish out of water" scene at the end. - Bud Hoffman | ||
| Fall Out Boy | Sophomore Slump Or Comeback of the Year | The best part of "believe" is the "lie" - Lizzie | ||
| Fall Out Boy | The Take Over, The Breaks Over | Baby seasons change but people dont - Coolrick92 | ||
| Fall Out Boy | Our Lawyer Made Us Change The Name Of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued | Just looked at the lyrics for this one; apparently, it repeats the line "we're all liars" a lot. Fall Out Boy has a habit of coming up with ridiculously long titles for their songs. I think next to none of 'em are actually mentioned in the songs, though. - Jonathan S. | ||
| Fall Out Boy | (Coffee's For Closers) | I will never believe in anything again I will never believe in anything again Change will come, oh, change will come I will never believe in anything again [Note: Those parentheses are not a misprint. That's the way the title is printed on the back cover of their album 'Folie a Deux'. - Jonathan S. | ||
| Fall Out Boy | Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner | And I keep my jealousy close, 'Cause it's all mine. And if you say this makes you happy, Then i'm not the only one lying. - Katy | ||
| Fall Out Boy | Champagne For My Real Friends, Real Pain For My Sham Friends | Strike us like matches, cause everyone deserves the flames We only do it for the scars and stories, not the fame - Katy | ||
| Fatboy Slim | The Rockafeller Skank | Right about now, the funk soul brother. Check it out now, the funk soul brother. - Brian Kelly | ||
| Filter | Captain Bligh | I am a grieving man / I can't believe the things I've done to you / I am a guilty man / I can't believe the things I've done to you - Jonathan S. | ||
| Finger Eleven | Paralyzer | Close, but... The singer mentions that he's not "paralyzed", but it is assumed that the person he is singing about is the "paralyzer". Thus, no mention in the song. - rocky | ||
| Five For Fighting | Superman (It's Not Easy) | Of all the songs that have "Superman" in the title, this is the only song that doesn't contain that word anywhere in the lyrics. - MOR | ||
| The Fleetwoods | Come Softly To Me | The title as a whole does not appear. There are several choruses of "Come softly, Darling" and "Come to me, sta-a-y". So naturally some listeners thought the title was "Come Softly, Darling". - MOR | ||
| Flight Of The Conchords | Robots | Would've made a lot more sense to call it "The Humans Are Dead" (repeated throughout the chorus) or "The Distant Future, The Year 2000" (repeated at the beginning of the track) - Jonathan S. | ||
| A Flock Of Seagulls | Space Age Love Song | I saw your eyes, And you made me smile; For a little while I was falling in love. - British Bullcrap | ||
| For Squirrels | Mighty K.C. | This dedication to Kurt Cobain doesn't mention his initials, let alone his name. - Brian Kelly | ||
| Forever the Sickest Kids | I Don't Know About You, But I Came to Dance | Not really said anywhere, the better title would be the most repeated line "I'm a sucker for lovers". - Alex | ||
| The Format | The First Single | "So let’s make a list of who we need It’s not much, if anything Make a list of who we need And we’ll throw it away ‘Cause we don’t need anyone." - Katy | ||
| The Format | I'm Ready, I Am | I'm trying to find truth in words, in rhymes, and notes In all the things I wish I wrote 'cause I feel like I've been losing you - Katy | ||
| Four Seasons | Opus #17 | Is this the call-and-response song to the Toy's 'Lovers Concerto'? - Paul Warren | ||
| Franz Ferdinand | Auf Asche | Despite its German title, the entire song is sung in English - Alan of Seville | ||
| The Fratellis | Chelsea Dagger | Known for being the theme of the Chicago Blackhawks. Oddly enough, the two halves of the name are mentioned separately in the song, but not together. It's kind of surprising this hasn't been posted yet. - Jonathan S. | ||
| Fratellis | Baby Fratelli | Alright, everybody says she's alright. - Time Machine | ||
| Fratellis | Whistle For The Choir | The closest you'll get to this title appearing in the lyrics is the whistling solo in the middle of the song! - Time Machine | ||
| The Fray | We Build Then We Break | Hold your breath, till it's over, there's something left underwater. - Dongquan | ||
| Fuel | Hemorrhage (In My Hands) | The only part of the title that is mentioned is the part in parentheses. - MOR | ||
| Fully Down | Descent, Rebellion, And All Around Hell Raising | I killed for your love, My guilt and ignorance, - Katy |
