This is the most recent information about Squeeze that has been submitted to amIright. If we have more information about Squeeze, then we provide a link to the section where it appears (the actual page whenever possible).

Band Name Origins:
- "Squeeze" was the name of the Velvet Underground's final album, made after all four original members (Reed, Cale, Tucker, Morrison) had left and Doug Yule was the leader. VU has disowned the album (I mean, come on, NO original members? That is *not* the VU). Apparently, a band in the U.S. had the name Squeeze, and their first album (the one with "Take Me I'm Yours") was titled "U.K. Squeeze." Submitted by: plasket

Story about this misheard lyric by: Jeffrey Wrobel This is a notorious misheard and glossed over lyric. People insert whatever in there and they have no clue what "lino" is (pronounced "la'-no" in the song). It is the British slang/shortening of the word "Linoleum" When I heard it again after reading the lyrics, I never heard the song the same way. Plus, there was no fewer that FOUR versions of the song recorded for different sides of the Atlantic! |

Misrhymed Lyrics:
"Up The Junction"
The Misrhymed Lyrics: I got a job with Stanley, who said I'd come in handy.
Why They're Misrhymed: My mum couldn't get on with the rhyming on this, thinking Glenn Tilbrook should have sung 'I got a job with Sandy...' 'Stanley' always makes me think of a factory that makes Stanley knives.
