Band Name Origins:

  • I heard that the members of the band were having a hard time picking a name. They asked REM frontman Michael Stipe to help out, and he came up with Concrete Blonde-something both hard and soft, like their music. Submitted by: Bossk
  • The name was given to them by Michael Stipe of R.E.M. - it is supposed to be a kind of self-contradiction, concrete being hard and blonde being soft. Submitted by: JayS

Stupid Band Names:

  • Sounds like just another name with two random unrelated words thrown together. Submitted by: Gebbie Dibson

Nonsensical Song Lyrics:

"Still In Hollywood"
The Nonsensical Lyrics:
And on the bus today,
I met the queen of L.A.
at least she said she was,
and who am I to say?
She was sixty-five and full of life,
she had purple painted cheeks
and glitter on her eyes.
And the troll in the corner,
I flipped him a quarter
and he looked at me and smiled.
He wasn't abused,
he wasn't confused,
he had nothing to gain
and less to lose
in Hollywood.
Why They're Nonsensical:
Ok, let's hope the 65 year old still isn't the queen of L.A. It sounds like she'd look kind of scary. And if I met a troll on a bus, I'd be running. Forget the quarter. And of course he wasn't confused. Who'd be confused after receiving a quarter anyway?
