- The term was taken from a passage in one of my all time favorite books..."The Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand. If you ever read it, you'll find out that the collective soul is a very, very bad thing, however, so I'm not so sure why they wanted that as a band name. Submitted by: StrangeAsAngels
