Song Names -> Song Titles Not Used as Lyrics -> Latest Entries

Some songs have titles that aren't used in the lyrics, and end up becoming better known for their lyrics than their title. Bob Dylan's "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35" is better known for the refrain "Everybody must get stoned" than it is for the title.

Enya The River Sings The words of this song are entirely in Celtic, and almost impossible to make out. However, one of the lines translates as "The river sings the endlessness". - Julian

Melanie Pebbles In The Sand She never sings "pebbles in the sand", instead singing "pebbles ON the sand". - Sheila Oh
Linus' Blanket Blanket Song The song doesn't seem to be about blankets, and the word "blanket" isn't said once in the song. But the song is comforting ,like a blanket, so that's likely how it got it's name. - Sweet Anne
The Moody Blues Question This is a tricky one. The word "questions" appears a least twice, but there is not the singular "question" anywhere. - Frosty The Cat
Bastille Good Grief Following strict song-titling logic, this song should be called "Watching Through My Fingers" or "I Miss You". However, I can see where the band is coming from; this is an upbeat song about mourning a friend's death, so "Good Grief" is a very appropriate title. - Jonathan S.
