"Rage"
Misheard Lyrics: Pleasant black cold concrete
Original Lyrics: Flesh and blood and cold concrete
|
Story about this misheard lyric by: Karen Smith I was listening to the album "Desire Walks On". I originally heard this line in the song "Rage" as "Pleasant black cold concrete". That made me curious, as I thought it rather unlikely that cold concrete (of any color) would be characterized as pleasant. On listening to the song additional times, I nonetheless usually heard "Pleasant black cold concrete". Then one time the actual lyrics, "Flesh and blood and cold concrete" sort of "grabbed me" as what I heard. The latter seemed to make more sense, and, checking a lyrics site, I confirmed them as correct. Now, having familiarized myself with the song enough to clearly anticipate the coming of this line I usually hear it correctly when I'm listening closely for it. Curiously though, I still generally hear "Pleasant black cold concrete" when I wasn't listening closely and the line takes me by surprise. |

The Nonsensical Lyrics: Ring them bells so the world will know that God is one.
Why They're Nonsensical: How can bell-ringing prove that "God is one?" Also, is it implied that "God is a bell"?

| "These Dreams"
The Nonsensical Lyrics: The sweetest sound is silence
That I've ever heard Why They're Nonsensical: You can't really hear silence now can you? That's an oxymoron; silence isn't a sound at all. I love the song but that one line just bugs me.
