Some bands don't wait around for Weird Al to parody one of their songs, and take a pre-emptive strike and write a silly song of their own.
Entries Beginning with G
A 60's-style song that mentions everything that a witty sex song has.
At the beginning of the album version, they start out singing, "Sweet Lorretta Martin thought she was a loner, but she was a frying pan"
Amy is basically telling non-believers to laugh at her if they want, but she will still believe in God and not feel ashamed or embarrassed. But she bristles a bit when she has to hug a mean person in spite of his overpowering body odor.
It's not the song that is the lighter side, it's the insanely low budget video that they made in about 2 hours!
We all know about how Roxy Music is an inspiration for punk, new wave, alternative and indy rock in so many ways . The center gatefold spread of their 1972 self-titled debut shows all the band members holding various guitars. Front man Bryan Ferry looks like a glam rock 23rd century Elvis and the other band members were also glammed up and dressed in various exotic costumes. There have been similar album art tributes by bands inspired by Roxy. For instance, for the 1980 Cars album 'Panorama' there's a similar inner spread picture of the Cars holding various guitars. In the 2004 Duran Duran album 'Astronaut' the Fab Five members also pose for a 2-page spread in the CD booklet. They are all holding various model guitars too. The Cars and Duran Duran and many other bands are inspired by Roxy Music and this is one clear way they've shown it!
I Love Foxy Roxy Music!
First time I saw this band guitarist Rick Neilson wore a sweater adorned with skulls and a ballcap. He talked about how they were going to play a lot of hits that night, and he commented about popular music in 1989. He praised Aerosmith, INXS, AC/DC...and then he quipped that this 'Tiffany and Debby Gibson should be taken to the fucking K-mart for a full refund!'. Cheers erupted. He continued, 'cause that's some really BAD SHIT!'. He pulled his cap down and glared comically to more audience cheering. He glared and then opined some more, 'It's BAAAAAD SHIT! And we're here to deliver some solid rock'n'roll for you tonight'. And did they EVER!
