Being accused of "faking it" at her concerts - Madonna
As Elton John was accepting the award for "best live act" at the MTV Europe Music Awards he blurted out "since when is lipsyncing live?"? as a response to the fact that Madonna was nominated in the same category as he was. Madonna's reps fired back saying that all of her shows are 100% live and that there wasn't any lipsyncing at any of her concerts. Elton later appologized for the offensive remark.

Although it has never been confirmed, a lot of "fans" of Mamas and the Papas maintain that Cass Elliot aphyxiated on a big sandwich that got stuck in her throat. The official cause of her death was a heart attack due to her enormous weight.

An out-and-proud lesbian (practically) from the start, Ms. Etheridge made a voluntary decision to not use gendered terms for the subjects of her famous love ballads. She claims that she did not do this out of shame, but because she did not wish to alienate listeners so that anyone, regardless of gender or sexual orientation, could relate to her music, which seems to have worked given her large fan base.

It was rumored that the INXS singer, who was found hanging on a belt at a Ritz-Carlton hotel in Sydney on November 22, 1997, had strangled himself while committing a sex act. The official cause of death was suicide, but a lack of a suicide note and the fact that he was nude at the time of death suggested he died of "auto-erotic asphyxiation". Many of his closest relatives, including his brother, believed that the sex act caused him to accidentally hang himself.
