A member of the '80s/'90s 2nd generation pop band Wilson-Phillips, Carnie stood out as she was noticeably large-framed compared to her band mates. Her figure caused her much distress and was considered a liability for the band's continuing success. After exhausting all other efforts, she decided to go under the knife. After surgery, she made the talk show circuit discussing her operation and showing off her new slender figure and she eventually reunited with the band.

Bait-and-switch rise to fame - Charlotte Church
At age 13 she first caught the world's attention with a CD entitled "Voice Of An Angel", containing hymns and traditional flokish songs. She seemed like a deeply Christian little girl with an angelic face, and a rising star with an operatic like voice. Her similarly "angelic" image continued through a Christmas CD entitled "Dream A Dream". But soon after that she let down any fans who adored her for that image, expressing a desire to have no more to do with the kind of music that brought her her initial fame, and that she wanted to be a pop diva instead. Her new image became anythng but angelic. By all acounts she reputedly turned skankish, with allegations of heavy boozing, and by all acounts turning her lungs into a toxic waste dump, and who knows what all else.

Dying in same plane crash with Patsy Cline - Cowboy Copas
Patsy Cline's short singing career before she died in a plane crash on March 5, 1963 was sufficient to make her an enduring country music legend. Two other country singers died in the same crash, one of whom was Cowboy Copas. His career never made him so well known, and today he is probably more often mentioned for how he died along with Patsy Cline than for his music in its own right.
