Funny Lyrics:
"Mary Jane's Last Dance"
The Funny Lyrics: There's pigeons down on Market Square
She's standing in her underwear. Why They're Funny: What a ludicrous juxtaposition! Pigeons in the city square, with someone in her underwear! I just hope it is the Pigeons that are responsible for any stains visible in this scene. On second thought, does it really matter? Maybe souvenirs left by pigeons are just as troublesome as anything else the images here might conjure up!

| "Let's Roll Another Joint"
The Funny Lyrics: Well let me get to the point
Let's roll another joint Why They're Funny: This song starts off about him taking a girl for a 'ride' and having a good time. Then these lyrics bluntly state what his definition of a good time is. :-)

Misrhymed Lyrics:
"Don't Do Me Like That"
The Misrhymed Lyrics: I was talkin' with a friend of mine
He said a woman had hurt his pride Why They're Misrhymed: A lot of Tom's lyrics don't rhyme, but this was the first line of his first hit song. I'm surprised he sold some records.

| "Don't Come Around No More"
Opening Lines: Hey, hey, don't come around no more.
Comments: "Don't Come Around No More" was a #12 hit for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers from their 1985 "Pack Up The Planation" lp. "Don't Come Around No More" was from a time that many artists, Tom Petty, amongst them were experimenting with a return of the late 1960's psychedelic music. The video of "Don't Come Around No More" is a salute to Lewis Carroll's "Alice In Wonderland" and is probably one of the most mindbending videos ever seen. The video was produced by Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics fame, who also played the sitar on the song. In the video, Dave Stewart played the smoking caterpillar who Alice meets sitting on top of a mushroom. Tom played the Mad Hatter and gives a wild tea party for Alice.

Bad Grammar in Song Lyrics:
"I Won't Back Down"
The Lyrics: There ain't no easy way out.
Why: 'Ain't' is not considered to be good English, and 'ain't no' is a double negative. If Tom says there ain't no easy way out, obviously there's SOME easy way out. It should be 'There IS no easy way out.'
