Misheard Lyrics Stories:

"Then He Kissed Me"
Misheard Lyrics:
And Danny kissed me.
Original Lyrics:
And then he kissed me.

Story about this misheard lyric by: John Bennett

When I started out as a Club DJ, a lady asked me to play 'And Danny kissed me. I didn't know of such a track, but she insisted I'd played it on an Oldies Night some few nights before. Eventually, after exhausting any track with Dan Danny or Daniel in the lyrics, I worked out that she meant 'And Then He Kissed Me'-too late, for she'd gone home.

Song Parody Fragments:

"He's a Rebel"
Better Lyrics:
See the way he walks down the street,
Knuckles dragging next to his feet
My he holds his club up high
when he goes walkin' by-yi-yi
He's my guy
When he holds my hair, boy, it hurts
But I guess that's my just deserts
Dating a Neanderthal,
My parents don't like him at all:
'Betty, we know best' they say-yay
'He's a Rubble
and he'll never ever be any good'
Original Lyrics:
See the way he walks down the street
Watch the way he shuffles his feet
My, he holds his head up high
When he goes walking by
He's my guy
When he holds my hand I'm so proud
'Cause he's not just one of the crowd
My baby, oh he's the one
To try the things they've never done
Just because of that they say
He's a rebel
and he'll never ever be any good

Nonsensical Song Lyrics:

"Da Doo Ron Ron"
The Nonsensical Lyrics:
Da-doo-ron-ron-ron,
da-doo-ron-ron
Why They're Nonsensical:
Of course it's nonsensical. But there's an explanation for it: The phrase was apparently just a filler phrase that songwriters Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich put in the lyrics until they could come up with something better, and Phil Spector told them it was perfect as it was.
