- That one dude is wrong. EMF stands for Epsom Mad Funkers, which was a nickname for the groupies of the band New Order. Although on the B-side of their hit single "Unbelievable" they suggested it might stand for Ecstacy (NOT Electric) MFs. Although I think the latter was a bit of a joke. Submitted by: Cat
