A real example. Formed by the two surviving members of the band Sublime, and Rome Ramirez, a Mexican-American singer and guitarist originally from Fremont, CA. They teamed up in early 2009, intending to form a new band called Sublime, but couldn't legally use the name because original frontman Bradley Nowell (who died in '96) had trademarked the name. So they used this name instead.
