Band Name Origins:

  • This was the name of a "B" movie, released about 1946, featuring Arthur Treacher (of Fish and Chips fame) It was the only name the group could agree on. They agreed they all hated it.... Submitted by: Ron Gordon
  • I heard a radio interview once with one of the band members who said the band couldn't agree on a name the liked, so they agreed on a name they didn't like. Submitted by: Ken

Swing Out Sister combined with The Opposites
I tried to find a decent opposite for the word 'swing' (as a verb) so that I could end the combined name with "In Brother", but couldn't. So I went with this.

Comments:
"Breakout" was a #7 hit in the fall of 1987. Swing Out Sister, from Britain was composed originally of keyboardist, Andy Connell, drummer, Martin Jackson and lead singer, Corrine Drewery. Drewery originally was a fashion designer, and the video for "Breakout" was a telling of those days as a fashion designer and the eventual "Breakout" from that profession. Drewery sings the opening line of "Breakout!"
