Story about this misheard lyric by: Jeffrey Hope Actually, the following applies to all misheard lyrics to this song in which the number 80 is misheard. The last syllable in 'eighty' is very hard to catch, causing these errors. Nowadays, when I sing it, that syllable can be heard. |

Dated Lyrics:
"Snoopy For President"
The Dated Lyrics: The time had come in '68 to elect a president
Why They're Dated: '68 came and went long ago. In fact, the 'in '68' part is edited out on the 'Anthology' CD version so as not to appear dated.

| "Snoopy vs. the Red Baron"
The Dated Lyrics: After the turn of the century
Why They're Dated: This line (the first in the song) refers to the turn of the 20th century, not the 21st like many people now believe when 'turn of the century' is by itself. So people who are new to the song (or were new to it after 2000 but now understand the lyrics, me for example) will at first think it's the turn of the 21st century.
