This lyric seems to equate pregnancy to, say, buying a Christmas or birthday present. It's as if he's saying his wife just decided to become pregnant all on her own as a gift for him...but that shouldn't be any kind of surprise. After all, I'm sure Paul was present for the conception of each of his 5 daughters!
