The AssociationsBand Name Origins:
- The Association began in the spring of 1965 at the Troubadour Club in Hollywood. A thirteen man band called "The Men", made their debut there with a new kind of music called folk-rock. They played several local dates but after one stormy rehearsal, angrily broke up. Five of them walked out with singer-songwriter Terry Kirkman, who led them back to his place for some drinks and consolation. Someone suggested forming a new band, perhaps using the name , "The Aristocrats". Terry's wife went to the dictionary to look up the word for them and found a better name on the very same page..."The Association". Submitted by: Tim K.

Nonsensical Lyrics:
"Cherish"
The Nonsensical Lyrics: Oh I could say I need you,
but then you'd realize that I want you, just like a thousand other guys Who'd say they loved you, With all the rest of their lies, When all they wanted was to touch your face, your hands, And gaze into your eyes Why They're Nonsensical: As much as I like this song (and I really DO like it.) I've always had to realize that, in writing these particular lines, someone let all sense of meaning get away. What really are the odds that someone who deviously and lyingly says 'I love you' wants ONLY to touch the face and hands and gaze into the eyes of the addressee? And then, -- claim that a thousand fit that pattern, and the odds really get astronomical against that being ALL that they want!
