Story about this misheard lyric by: Miranda Turner

When I first heard this, when it was fairly new, I thought it definitely sounded like the misheard version above. But I was pretty sure I was hearing it wrong, since I heard it back then only on the radio, and was pretty sure that they wouldn't have played such lyrics on the air back then. It wasn't long until I heard someone singing the 'disguise' part clearly, and figured out that that much seemed correct. But it wasn't until the last decade or so that I saw the title in print as 'Judy In Disguise (With Glasses)', before which I never came close to guessing the real words to the 'with glasses' part.

Comments:
In the winter of 1968, John Fred & His Playboy Band took this obvious rip-off of the Beatles' "Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds" (Texan, John Fred has admitted as much) to #1 for two weeks. With psychedelic lyrics to match the psychedelic bubblegum music it became an instant classic despite the Beatles' "Lucy" or maybe because of it.
