Band Name Origins:
- As everyone knows, the Jacksons were all brothers named Jackson, who originally recorded as the Jackson 5. They considered changing their name to the Jackson 6 when youngest brother Randy joined the act. But then they left Motown Records, who owned the rights to the Jackson 5 trademark. It was simpler to change the name to change the band name to "The Jacksons." Ironically, Jermaine left the band as a result of the record deal with CBS, because he was married to the daughter of Motown's CEO, so there were still five brothers in the act.
