Band Name Origins:
- Originally called 'Roxx Regime', Stryper got really big in their faith and commitment to god.. in the Bible. Isiah 53:5 says 'By his stripes, we are healed'.. so drummer Robert Sweet took it to his brother Michael Sweet and agreed to name the band Stryper Submitted by: jackdaniels
- This Christian metal band were formed with the name "Roxx Regime". Following thier dedication to God, Rob Sweet was reading his Bible at Isaiah 53v5; ...By His Stripes You were Healed.... He came up with the word "Striper". Somebody pointed out that the spelling would lead to mis-pronunciatiom, so the name was changed to Stryper. This was convenient for the rockers, famous for thier yellow and blaxk striped Spandex and for throwing Bibles into the audience as it becsme an acronym for Salvation Through Repentance Yielding Peace Encouragement And Righteousness. That's right, folks. STRYPER - that 'Christian metal' band puts out an album with this title and it has a title track as well. 'Christian' stores and the ever-hypocritical Walmart refuses to stock the album. Sounds like an ugly gimmick on behalf of the band - Creed (CRUD) had the same controversy over the use of the 'GD' word in 'What This Life's For' in 1998. Creed sucks and Stryper always was a bunch of pretentious pompous wankers anyway.

"To Hell With The Devil (Album)"
This album's original cover art depicted four angels throwing the Devil into a fiery pit. Some people objected to it and, like Motley Crue's "Shout At The Devil" album, the cover was changed to only feature the band logo and album name.
