Story about this misheard lyric by: Susanna Viljanen

Ford Cortina was a popular family - and race - car in the 1960s and in the 1970s in Finland. Being a child in the seventies, I thought that Granny indeed did have a tuned-up Ford Cortina.

Misrhymed Song Lyrics:

"The Little Old Lady From Pasadena"
The Misrhymed Lyrics:
She's the terror of Supulvita Blvd
It's the little old lady from Pasadena
Why They're Misrhymed:
Not only is this lyric misrhymed but Jan and Dean have no sense of geography because the last time I checked Supulvita Blvd is in the area of California known as 'The Valley'.

[Ed's note: That's because the line is "She's the terror of Colorado Boulevard". Your statement about The Valley is correct in itself, except that the spelling should be "Supelveda" rather than "Supulvita"].

[Additionally, the lyrics:
"She's the terror of Colorado Boulevard" rhyme with the preceeding line "She drives real fast and she drives real hard"].

"Little Old Lady From Pasadena"
The Misrhymed Lyrics:
And everybody's sayin' that there's nobody meaner
Than the little old lady from Pasadena
Why They're Misrhymed:
Nice try, Guys!

[Ed's note: Errr, that doesn't rhyme???]

"Sidewalk Surfin'"
Opening Lines:
Grab your board and go sidewalk surfin' with me ...
Comments:
Surf music duo, Jan & Dean had a top twenty hit with "Sidewalk Surfin'" in 1964. "Sidewalk Surfin'" refers to skateboarding that was just becoming the fad it would later become in that year of 1964.
