Story about this misheard lyric by: Rose I couldn't figure out whether it was Moorabbin or Komatu. I am Australian, and Moorabbin is a Melbourne suburb which has a football oval which used to be the home ground of my favourite AFL (Australian Football League) team. They stopped playing there in the 90s, but as a kid I thought she was singing about Moorabbin Oval, and how she loved it but the Saints no longer play there anymore. I didn't know what Komatu was until I googled it, turns out it's a Japanese City. I thought they were pronouncing 'Komatsu,' the earthmoving machinery company wrong. A lot of Komatsus used to be on building sites etc. in town near where I lived. |
