Band Name Origins:

  • One other thing with Cowboy Mouth. There is a Sam Shepherd play by that name from 1971, but it may have gotten its name from Bob Dylan's "Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands" in 1966 ("with your cowboy mouth and your curfew plugs...") which was apparently about Joan Baez. The Shepard play is apparently partially about Dylan and Baez. http://home.wlu.edu/~blackburnj/shepard/cmouth.html. Submitted by: Bob Smith
  • The phrase is from the one-act play "Cowboy Mouth" by Patti Smith and Sam Shepard. ("People want a street angel. They want a saint but with a cowboy mouth.") It's also used in a song by Dash Rip Rock (the band drummer Fred LeBlanc was in before he left and formed CM): "Johnny Ace" - "Workin' hard all night and always tried/ to be a rock 'n roll Jesus with a cowboy mouth". They live up to their name too. Submitted by: Gingher

Stupid Band Names:

  • The name sounds like a gum disease common in the American Southwest. Submitted by: Todd W. Zimmerman

Sometimes the whole wide world demands her,

Dirty Song Lyrics:

"Tell the Girl"
The Dirty Lyrics:
Cause Lordy knows, honey, if I don't
There will be no nookie tonight
So, I slowly turn to the woman I love
Saying, "Baby, baby, baby, please."
Then I watch her smile and point to me
She says, "Get down on your knees and..."
Why They're Dirty:
A couple of spots - getting no nookie is self-explanatory.... and what does she want him to do while he's on his knees?
