Ah, cross country. A noble sport of summer practices in 90 degree heat (in the morning) for as long as 2 hours.
It is a sweltering day, the road heats up
And all our shoes start to melt, we are whinin'
The jerks goof off, and the coach is yellin'
"10 miles, all the way!" Mood's declinin'...
I'm trudgin' through the park
I might be here after dark
Listening to captains bark
Causing some vicious remarks!

Deprived of sleep, up steep hills we are stumb-a-ling
It's 8 am, two hours more
It's sprint drill time! And we are still grumb-a-ling
This boot-camp-like work, we deplore
Now through the park I trudge
Ew, what's that big pile of sludge?
Dog doo! Crap! Oh please don't smudge...
Brown stuff on my shoe ain't fudge!

Aaaaaagh, aaaaagh, AAAAGGGHH!

We run on, heat stroke sets in
Freshmen are falling down! But Coach is barking still...

Burning rubber from my shoe
Sunburn's a big red tattoo!

Is this "3rd person" or do you run Cross-Country, too, Cat? So, let me get this straight...you work hard enough in school to get Straight A's - You run Cross-Country, which as noted above is quite grueling AND time-consuming...and then in your SPARE time you manage to write a fair number of pretty-darn good parodies...and I'm guessing there is probably a whole bunch of other stuff, too...JEEEEZZZZ! There oughta be a Law against having so much energy! 5-5-5 ~ ~ ~

Pieman, it's merely because they make us do cross country pracitce in the summer when I could spend my time doing much better things...like sleeping!

Another of my favorite OSes. Didn't run cross country (conflict with soccer), but I did run distance for indoor/outdoor track for the winter/spring seasons, so I can relate. Well done!
I would have a heat stroke if I tried to run like that now, lol. Good job with the uneven syllabic structure of the verses and on varying the choruses.
(SB) well done Cat, and lol on the roadkill line - in my travels today I saw 12 dead kangaroos on the side of the road in one 100metre stretch, so I suggest you give Australia a wide berth when next the cross country bug bites
