Parody Song Title:

"If There Only Were A Train"

Parody Written by:

Phil Alexander

A comment on the trend in railway stations to concentrate more and more on franchise outlets and ways to get us to spend our money while waiting... while making sure that we are waiting more by not having the trains running
There is stuff from every nation
On sale at the station
And more to entertain
Where it starts to unravel
I'd oh, *SO* love to travel
If there only were a train.

I could buy jeans or chinos
Lattes and cappucinos
From some world-famous chain
But I would not be here
I'd not even be near
If there only were a train.

Oh, I guess I could fly
I like to go by plane
But to get to the airport... let me explain:
I'D STILL BE WAITING FOR MY ****ING TRAIN!!!

Oh, I am so a-hatin'
A-standin' and a-waitin'
Maybe I should complain
But I'm still standin' here
I might get back this year
If there only were a train.

You've been hit by the 555 train!

Now boarding on Track 5. Actually, I like the trend, especially since, unlike buses, trains let you eat and drink on board. (But watch yourself on the Long Island Rail Road on the evening rush. Those alcohol-allowed cars can be rough. I'm glad New Jersey Transit doesn't do it.) What bugs me is how they've done the same thing with sports arenas. The idea of going to the game is to watch the game.

Thank you for all your train-inspired puns... must have been training hard for those :-)
