Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Mourn Doomed Date"

Parody Written by:

John A. Barry

"Mourn doomed date". . .as sung by Dickey Lee.
To lose his girl, Laura, in a crashed late-
model car was his fate.

Mourned doomed date--the song is about his lost love,
Who died, got fried. It was her fate
To disintegrate.

In such pop schlock there's another
Crooner besides Dickey:
It's J. Frank Wilson, and his tune
Also concerns eternity.

This guy too. . .

Mourns doomed date; he says a prayer,
Also, he cries
'cause his inamorata mate
Is now inanimate.

Mourned two dates, who didn't wear
Seat belts and died.
They met a vehicular fate.
Ay! Guys corny tunes pra-a-a-a-a-ate.
On my ear horns they grate.

Third-rate.
