Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"What a Crazy Old World"

Parody Written by:

Freddie C.

The Lyrics

I see gangs with guns, dead bodies, too
I hope they don't go after you
And I think to myself, What a crazy old world

I see husbands beat up on their wives
And people threaten each other's lives
And I think to myself, What a crazy old world

Too many lives cut short, why did they have to die?
That's also the same thought of people going by
But I really don't know, don't know what to do
What's wrong with saying I love you?

I hear babies crying, they're all alone
Because their parents, they may never know
And I think to myself, What a crazy old world

Yes, I think to myself, What a crazy old world...oh yeah.

freddie, the "one" for humour is not a criticism; your parody was very moving, but not funny (I guess it wasn't meant to be). I am worried about the guy (or girl) who did give you a 5 in this category......KR (515)

I gave it 5's in the same way that people often give me fives for my not-so-funny political parodies. Sometimes, I replace the funny category with "worth of meaning" as a measure of how good the parody is...

Some songs were meant to be funny, and others to be serious...and you're right, I was going for the serious side in writing this parody. If Satchmo were alive today, he'd say the same thing, too.

'Nuff said...I will use the MacPhisto rating system in the future...keep writing Fred

I too use the MrMacphisto voting method. Very moving song as it speaks the truth about today's world, it ain't as wonderful as Louis Armstrong thinks it is though this world ain't all doom'n'gloom, I say about half'n'half, well at least in Australia anyway. Anyhow the song isn't funny (not meant to be) but all 5s replacing funny with meaningful. Anyways good one, keep'em coming.

I think this is originally meant to be a sarcastic song. And the ironic part is that it is about black people who are supressed "they'll learn much more than i'll ever know" and white people loved the song. I think he is kind of directing it towards white people becuase black people are getting lynched and stuff, but, hey look at those "blue skies and red roses" and ahh "what a wonderful world. Well, I don't really know what is the truth about this song, but I really think that it is intentionally a kind of sarcastic song..
