I could write a sonnet
about your Easter bonnet.
Instead I am just making up
a meter charade.
As I look this over,
I can’t be a line rover,
because I need just fourteen
for this meter charade.

Not a lot left, then I’ll wrap up
this line-counting chore…three to go; not one more.
I wrote a pseudo sonnet, but now’s time to be gone; it
amounts to a leave-taking from
this meter charade.
