Original Song Title:

"Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer"

Original Performer:

Gene Autry

Parody Song Title:

"Oscar the Bun-Length Hot Dog"

Parody Written by:

Royce Miller

The Lyrics

You know Ball Park and Armour and ole Hebrew National---kosher,
unkosher, it's all very rational; but do you recall the lengthiest wiener
of all?

Oscar the Bun-length hot dog
He was such a splendid sight
Juicy and plump and tasty
Down to the last, luscious bite

All of the other wieners
They were just a little green
They grumbled neath their relish
"Oscar's length is quite obscene"

Then one balmy autumn day
At the picnic bash
Oscar's bun was but a wedge
Oscar hung over the edge

Then how the small ones perked up
They began to realize
Smear on some spicy mustard
There is more to life than size
There is more to life than size

OK, Royce, what's the next Rudolph parody going to be, then? Have you read "The Prisoner of Zenda" by any chance?

I have a feeling there's a subtle message underneath this simple tale of weiner, but I can't put my finger on it. Oh, wait, There it is.

Re: Prisoner of Zenda - I'd rather recommend reading "Royal Flash", by George Macdonald Fraser, though to get the most out of the Flashman book it would help to read that one first. It's just that PoZ has Rudolf Rassendyl as the hero (though thinking about it, Royal Flash has a "Rudy" as the character who relates to "Rupert of Henzau" in PoZ).

Come to think of it, I'd recommend reading all the Flashman books to everybody - the best way to learn Victorian history: some is still apposite today, as the description of Afghanistan in the first book "Flashman" gives you a good idea of the sort of tangled politics we're still having to deal with.
