The Lyrics

They do it every year it's a tradition though I know how cruel it may seem.
So somehow, someway, I gotta tell you turkey this;
The're gonna put you on a platter and cover you with batter, that is what I mean.
In a few days now it will be time for you to say buh-bye.

They'll come for you at night and grab your neck so tight, they'll be so excited.
But you still got a shot at life, so take it and don't be afraid.
But your life is so brief and time is a thief when you're undecided.
Because in a few days it's gonna be Thanksgiving Day!

Young turkey, flee tonight!
Time's not on your side!
Find somewhere you can't be found, dig a hole in the ground,
Don't let them make a dinner out of you.

All that cornmeal that they fed you it was not for nothing.
They're just watching you get fat and getting ready every day of the week.
They just want your turkey meat, so watch out, that axe is coming.
They'll chop off your head and make you run like a lunatic! Ew!
Young turkey flee tonight!
Time's not on your side!
Don't let them take you down, don't let yourself be found,
Don't let them make you into turkey stew.

Young turkey flee to tonight!
Time's not on your side!
Find somewhere you can't be found, dig a hole in the ground,
Don't let them make dinner out of you.

Little turkey I know, I hate to break it but you better start runnin'.
And I'm really sorry that it has to turn out this way.
They won't eat that tofurkey there's no point in hoping, you should just run away.
They're never gonna stop till they gobble up ten pounds of joy!

Young turkey flee tonight!
Time's not on your side!

You gotta run free, be free, live free
Time's not on, time's not on your side.
Time, time, time, time's not on your side
Not on your side
Not on your side
Not on your side
Young turkey flee tonight!
tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight, tonight, yeah

Mmmmmm-turkey. You go girl. We are such non-traditionalists, we've gone out for sushi on that day. It's also on the eve of the full Xmas bombast and a day of unrelenting fooball. 3 strikes. The mocking shall continue.

Hey, how come my songs are always at the top of the list? Do I just have impeccable timing??
Rick D - November 23, 2003 - Report this comment
Now that you asked that, it'll never happen again.

As long as Leah picks song that start with 'Y', it will...it goes by song, reverse alphabetically. :D Good parody, Leah!

I think Leah meant why are her songs always on top of the day's parody list when she submits, Rick. I had to stare at her comment for a few seconds to find that out. She wasn't trying to be conceited.;)
Leah Lockhart - November 23, 2003 - Report this comment
That's what I meant... so it's reverse alphabetical? I guess that makes sense. Seems random. I guess my next entry will wind up somewhere near the bottom.

I didn't understand it either, Jonathan. Wasn't making a crack about conceit, just being sardonic. Now I'm gonna name all my parodies with a "Z" in front. (Just kidding okay!)

No, I'm not one to toot my own horn. I leave that to the pork and beans guys. ;-)

(No Rick, you'll have to parody songs that begin with Z, not write parody titles that begin with Z.) Leah, I'm going to have to take a rain check on rating this one. I don't think I've heard Young Turks since it was on the charts... and, except for one line of the chorus, I can't pull the melody out of my memory, just this minute. :/
Leah Lockhart - November 23, 2003 - Report this comment
Thanks anyway, there are a lot of songs up today that I don't know so I'm feeling lost! (Moody Blues, CSN, etc. - only know a few) I happened to hear this in the bagel shop the other day, I wouldn't have thought of it otherwise...

I think they go by the title of the original song. But what do I know.:D
