Original Performer:

Parody Song Title:

"Get Me A Hammer (Smash These Awful CD's)"

Parody Written by:

Tim Mayfield

The Lyrics

Please rewrite the refrain
Cause there's something that it lacks
I know that it's such a pain rhyming
But your poetry is whack

Your lyrics they appall me
I would call this crap indeed

I would rather eat liver
I think that's how much that your song offends
Can you see my bleeding ears, aching
Cause your music never blends

Don't want to hear your bad grammar
Your mother'd be ashamed
Oh, won't someone give me a hammer
Want to smash these awful CD's
Bam, bam

Should make minimum wage
Cause you flunked all your spelling bees
Dancing on the lit stage
Not somewhere that I think you should be

Don't want to hear your bad grammar
Your mother'd be ashamed
I guess you can't call me enamored
Music I detest
I'm gonna get me a hammer
Want to smash these awful cd's
Take away the glamour
And I bet no kid would buy it

Bad, bad, bad grammar

Go to school!

Should not unwrap it
Might offend
I have had enough
It has got to end, it will be the end
It's time to trash CD
And toss my radio
Not a peep, 'cause it really blows
yea, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I do mean blows
And it's rude
That's why I am through
Going to burn that tower
Burn, burn down that tower, hey
'Cause I don't want to listen
Don't want neighbors to listen
Going to burn that tower, burn or sue
come on, come on, help me sue
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, sue
They have forced me to listen
They have forced me to listen
It's what they're doing, doing
It stops tonight

I've always been fond of that song, but WOW, you really have opened my eyes to the tacky lyrics it had, I loved some of the lyrivs you used, very witty and talented keep it up 555 all the way!!!

And what's so wrong about opening up one's fruit cage? :P This is applicable to any crappy song (which Sledgehammer isn't), 555.

I'm with Rick, this song was pretty average, but PG's OK with me. 555

This isn't about Gwen Stefani's CD? No matter, still a funny parody but I agree with Agrimorfee here. 555

smashing...5s

I recommend a ball-peen, allows for a much more concentrated fracture-point on the CD polymer. Oh yeah, 5s for the parody!

Thanks YouKnowItsJoe, Agrimorfee, Rick, Kristof, Red Ant, Alvin and Johnny. I did kind of write this about Peter Gabriel. (sorry) I find this song exceptionally devoid of cool lyrics, creative wording, etc. Much like a lot of Billy Joel stuff. [running away]

I always saw the original as a cop-out too.
