Song Parodies -> Pillsbury Rolls
| Original Song Title: | "Solsbury Hill" |
| Original Performer: | Peter Gabriel |
| Parody Song Title: | "Pillsbury Rolls" |
| Parody Written by: | Mikey Squirrel |
Baking up some Pillsbury rolls
I could see the oven light
As my hunger took its toll
Just can't wait to have a bite
It was starting to turn brown
Came in close, I felt the heat
Sniffing smelling all around
Now my dinner is complete
It just came out of the refrigerator
I just cannot wait any later
Timer going click, click, ding!
"Mom" I said "Grab your mitts
It's time to take them out."
Wolf them down, I just can't stop
My family would think that I was nuts
Spreading butter right on top
With the knife it would be cut
I could eat the whole damn batch
Tho' my rolls was in my gut
Just throw them right down my hatch
Passing wind right out my butt
I was stealing right off my sister's plate
She wasn't done, I just couldn't wait
My Mom going no, no, no
"Hey" she said "Grab that dough
I'm going to make some more."
(Some more)
Then along comes Poppin' Fresh
He's the dough boy from Pillsbury
As he giggles in excess
Poking him in the tummy
He walks through flour and makes a mess
This little prick is bugging me
The rolling pin I did possess
And I flattened him with glee
Tonight we don't need any dessert
'Cuz now we're baking this pudgy-ass squirt
His cries going, Why? Why? Why?
"Hey" I said "Nothing says loving,
like a dough boy in the oven!"
I could see the oven light
As my hunger took its toll
Just can't wait to have a bite
It was starting to turn brown
Came in close, I felt the heat
Sniffing smelling all around
Now my dinner is complete
It just came out of the refrigerator

Great parody of a great 70s song! Excellent wordplay and rhyming.
One of my favorite Peter Gabriel songs, cooked up nicely...5s
Excellent parody, Mikey! LOL... 5-5-5
(2005 SOTM Wildcard) Good one, Mikey! 5's
The first two verses were mildly humorous, but they did a very good job of setting up the insanely humorous third verse.
(SOTM-Wild) Your parody was poppin' fresh!

For the record, today is my 56th birthday!
From one Peter to another (though one day late): Happy Birthday!
(WILDCARD) I agree with JJ. A great title and well rhymed throughout.
(WILDCARD) DKTOS, but I recognise what you're talking about. The Simpsons did a play on it. Nice work.
Hang on, 56?!?! I'm way behind (15 in 15 days - ha!). Oh, well. By the time I'm your age I'll have too many parodies to count. I may even have recorded them - as if!
"Oohoo!!!" That's one parody that's in good taste!
(WILDCARD) D'OUGH! ;-)
JD's nicked the pun I was going to use... D'Oh!... or should that be
Dough idea: a good idea
..nope, can't think of anything for "Re"

(WILD) er, "pudgy ass squirt" was a very powerful image Mikey - great creative use of the OS - 555
(WILD) Well, I tried finding a MP3 of this song (and did) but it turned out to be some awful karaoke version. Anyways, great rhyming and killer last verse, I swear I've said that quoted line verbatim before. Tri-fives for you!
Exactly what John Jenkins said. And I'll add that I love the original. Tasty stuff, Squirrelbait.
(SOTM) Well baked parody.
(Wild Card) Nicely done, Mikey.
Wildcard...mmmm, delicious! This one made me hungry, Mikey!
(ABC4P) DOH! Ever notice that the doughboy and Homer have the same body
shape? Fine food parody.
The first two stanzas didn't do anything for me, but the last stanza was hilarious! "Nothing says loving like a doughboy in the oven", LOL. This was good. At first I thought it was going to be a parody of Weezer's "Beverly Hills", but I didn't know this song so I had to Youtube it. A pretty boring original song in my opinion.
Sir Mikey, ~Duke o'Squirrel~, very nice parody!
Nothing to add to the above except I listened to the YouTube link you provided this time. Any plans on recording this one?
(ABC) No mold growin' on this oldie! :)
(ABC4) See above!
(ABC4) see above - rollicked along nicely to the OS, which is just made for parodying - have to give it a go one day - nice work Mikey
(ABC) Very original Mikey, seemed like a good tribute to the Pillsbury Dough Boy . . .EEE HEEE
D'Oh!...what's that ? Johnny used that one ?...D'Oh!...what's that ? Phil used that one...D'Oh!...what's that ? Guy used that one ?...D'Oh!
I loved the ending...
