The Lyrics

The Halifax explosion of 1917 was the largest man-made explosion prior to the atomic bombs of 1945! The French SS Mont Blanc carrying high explosives collided with the Norwegian SS Imo in the Narrows destroying a large part of Halifax and neighboring Dartmouth. 2000 killed and 9000 injured. Explosion of 2.9kt of TNT.
Halifax, Narrows straight
Halifax, Narrows straight

A sad day for Halifax
In the Narrows straight
One day, 2000 lives
At sea, two ships collide

Explosives meant for the war
In France they were waiting
Halifax to New York
With France coordinating
SS Imo hit first like a mine
Fire started on Mont Blanc, spread wide
All those explosives packed together
Detonated under pressure
Wiped out part of Halifax

TNT, 2.9 Kilotons
Largest explosion ever man-made
Nearly all structures down
And a tsunami wave
December 1917 round 9 (am)
Damage was unkind
9000 others injured
Hospitals overwhelmed together
Such loss in Halifax

Halifax, Narrows straight
Halifax, Narrows straight

Halifax, bad fate
Halifax, bad fate

Halfax, obliteration
HE to fight the German nation
