The Lyrics

Well, this wasn't the parody I was *planning* to do when I downloaded the lyrics. But I'd always thought that this song was about theft (come on, "moving color tvs," what else could that mean?), so when I actually read the lyrics and discovered otherwise, I dropped my old idea and went with this one. You may or may not see the other idea in a few days... Not my best parody ever, but I couldn't help but write it anyway.
{In the background}
You don't need
That expensive TV
You don't need
That expensive TV
You don't need
That expensive TV
You don't need
That expensive TV

Now look at them houses that's the way to do it
You play the burglar and ya swipe tvs
This ain't workin' that's the way we do it
Money for nothin', lots'a stuff for free
Now this ain't workin' that's the way to do it
listen closely, ya can't be dumb
If the cops can catch ya you might go to jail
If ya land there, you won't have no fun

We're gonna gank those microwave ovens
Other kitchen accessories
We're gonna "move" these refrigerators
We're gonna "move" these color TVs

See the stupid people with the cubicles and bosses
Dumb people, they're playing fair
The stupid people do their nine-ta-fivers
While all the crooks like us are millionaires

We're gonna gank those microwave ovens
Other kitchen accessories
We're gonna "move" these refrigerators
We're gonna "move" these color TVs

Gonna gank those microwave ovens
Other kitchen accessories
We're gonna "move" these refrigerators
Gotta "move" those color TVs

You gotta learn to use a lockpick
You gotta learn to aim a gun
Oh crap, it's a witness, quick get a gun up to her ribcage, Bob
Then we'll have some fun
And look up there, what's that? Expensive artwork?
Looks like this house we picked'll give us quite a spree
Oh, this ain't workin' that's the way to do it
Get your money for nothin', lot'sa stuff for free

We're gonna gank those microwave ovens
Other kitchen accessories
We're gonna "move" these refrigerators
We've gotta "move" these color TV's

Now look at them houses that's the way to do it
You play the burglar and ya swipe tvs
This ain't workin' that's the way we do it
Money for nothin', lots'a stuff for free
Money for nothin', stuff for free
Money for nothin', stuff for free
Money for nothin', stuff for free
Money for nothin', stuff for free
{several minutes of repeats...}

I missed this one when it posted. Glad you entered it in the SOTM for March otherwise I may have missed it completely and denied myself a great read. Good luck in the competition.

Years ago, I wrote a song called "This is the Life" about a professional thief. The first verses he sings about what a great life he has because he doesn't have to work and everything is free. the last verse he comes home and finds out he's been ripped off. Boy is he pissed. Good job on this, it's high on my short list.

Firstly, thanks everyone who's commented... and especially those of you who gave me points in the competition ;-P. Secondly, Rick: have a recording or at least the lyrics to that song? It sounds quite amusing.

Thanks Spaff and Arwen! As a fellow word-lover, I am always on the lookout for new slang to add to my vocabulary - and Mudd is absolutely full of such slang, a word-watcher's dream :-). PM me in the forum or something if you're curious about MuddSpeak, as it's often called - there are a few choice I've picked up here.

nem - Very good parody. 5's. Of course the REAL top thiefs & burglars do all their transfers and thefts in PAPER or, even better, over the wires. Walking around with someone else's TV is kind of a bust, but you can rip-off thousands of people for multi-millions of dollars and not have anything on your person that tips off authorities. Just ask the Enron chieftains or the Tyco boss, Martha's Stewart's buddy Samuel whatever his name was with Imclone. Oh, the list goes on and on...Or you could be Halliburton and have the Government drive the money right up to your vaults and dump it in, no questions asked, as quick as you can say "Dick Cheney"...
