The Lyrics

Inspried by Weird Al's "Money For Nothing/Beverly Hillbillies" :D
Gilligan
Gilligan's Island now
Gilligan's Island now
Now just sit right back now, listen to my tale
Little tale' bout a fateful trip
It all started on this tropic port
Aboard this little tiny ship now

That mate he was a mighty sailor
The Skipper was so brave and sure
Five passengers set sail

For a little three hour tour
The weather was getting ro-o-o-ough
If not for the fearless crew , now
The Minnow would sure be lo-ost

The ship set ground on this uncharted
Little desert isle right here
With Gilligan and the Skipper
That Mr. Howell, the millionare

His wife also came along
Ginger, that movie sta-a-a-ar
The Professor, came along too
Mary Ann who's so pretty-y

So this is the tale of these seven
Castaways on the isle
They're here for a long long time, longer than three hours
No lights or a motorcar
Not even a single luxury, like Robinson Cruose
It's just about as primitive as can be

So join here each week now , just so you see it
My friends, and your sure to get a smile from

Seven stranded castaways
Here on Gilligan's I-I-Isle
We gotta watch this show now
We gotta see this on TV Land

Now, that's my story , hope you enjoyed it
I hope just as much as me
It's on TV Land, hope that you watch it
Gilligan is that old Skipper's little buddy

Gilligan is Skipper's little buddy
Gilligan is Skipper's little buddy
Gilligan is Skipper's little buddy
Looka dat Looka dat

Gilligan, Gilligan, Gilligan's Island now
Gilligan, Gilligan, Gilligan's Island now
Gilligan, Gilligan, Gilligan's Island now
( repeat to fade )

Good job, Jack - I can see it took some work. Keep working on improving your pacing, your writing is getting better.

Yep It did take some work, I will, and thanks!

Your link to the lyrics doesn't work you should try to get that fixed before i can vote fairly

See above.

I liked it but it just seemed too reminiscent of Weird Al's parody, maybe that's what you were going for who knows. But overall still a good parody.

MysteryGoat, yes that is sort of what I was going for, not really, but sorta , glad ya liked it though
Joelle - February 29, 2004 - Report this comment
Good one!

This was good! Reminds me of Weird Al's version where he did the Beverly Hillbillies in the UHF movie (maybe that was part of the inspiration?). Just looked at MysteryGoat's comment...he beat me to it. Anyway, I liked it.

Yeah, the pacing seems off somehow. I'm gonna have to be harsh with this one, cause I couldn't figure out easily how to sing to it.

Ditto on neminem's comment. I couldn't follow it very well either. I'll probably vote 3-5-5.

Joelle : Thanks! Jeff : Yes! That was the inspiration! neminem and ... : Thanks!
Serafina - March 02, 2004 - Report this comment
I agree with neminem and Ellipsis. The pacing was hard to follow, but it was a good idea for a parody. My vote is 3-4-5.

Ditto on Serafina's comment. I tried to sing it the way that Weird Al might (I have his version on CD) but it didn't work. But it was a nice idea, though.
2nz - March 02, 2004 - Report this comment
That's some of the hardest pacing to follow that I've ever heard. The band just doesn't sing audibly. Really good idea, and good effort on pacing.
Diva - March 03, 2004 - Report this comment
I loved it!
Jack Wilson - March 05, 2004 - Report this comment
Thanks Serafina, nally , 2nz and Diva!
Claude Prez - March 05, 2004 - Report this comment
I agree with the others; good idea, but Weird Al had the benefit of a recording to solve his pacing problems. It's just too difficult to get the theme song out of your head while reading. Good for fours though.

You guys thought it met the pacing well? I come here and I find 7 votes with "5" as pacing. I thought the pacing was off, but a good idea nonetheless. So I vote 3-5-5.
nnnag - June 15, 2004 - Report this comment
I also vote 3-5-5. Pacing wasn't good, but the topic was.
