 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Dire Straits

Parody Song Title:

"Music For Nothing (I Want My MP3)"

Parody Written by:

Chris Bodily TM

The Lyrics

This parody was inspired by a smilarly titled "MFN" parody by Bob Rivers. I thought I'd play around with the idea, and here it is for the whole world to see...
I want my....
I want my MP3.....
I want my....
I want my MP3...
(Repeat fifteen billion more times)

(Long intro)

Now look at them iPods
That's what I call stealin'
You playin' music on your MP3
That ain't legal
That's what I call stealin'
Music for nothin' and the hits for free
Now that ain't legal
That's what I call stealin'
Lemme tell ya them guys are dumb
They can get some music with their index fingers
As for money, the artists get none

We got some Napsters and there's lots of 'em
Playin' songs on your MP3s
Those who download are some music haters
Artists gotta feed their families

Go onto the Internet, you find songs you can download
They should lock you up in jail
The downloads can drive the RIAA insane
They'll sue you so they can be millionaires

We got some Napsters and there's lots of 'em
Playin' songs on your MP3s
Those who download are some music haters
Artists gotta feed their families

Ya shoulda learned to play the guitar
Ya shoulda learned to play them drums
Coulda done covers, ya coulda asked them for permission
Songs can't go to number one
What's on the computer? What are those noises?
Why'd ya have to get yourself an MP3?
That ain't legal
that's what I call stealin'
Get your music for nothin' get your hits for free

We got some Napsters and there's lots of 'em
Playin' songs on your MP3s
Those who download are some music haters
Artists gotta feed their families

Now that ain't legal
that's what I call stealin'
You playin' music on your MP3
That ain't legal
that's what I call stealin'
Music for nothin' and your hits for free
Music for nothin' and hits for free....
(I want my, I want my, I want my MP3...)
[Repeat]...

Haha... I had no qualm downloading the song :-P. Nice job, though I disagree with the point - after all, it's not like most musicians you'd be likely to find on Kazaa get much money working for big music conglomerates anyway...

If this is sarcastic, it could only come through in the performance. They lyrics give no sarcasm away. I suspect you're one of "them" music police folks, so let me ask you how much you paid Dire Straits for this ?
