"She's A Lady"

Original Performer:

Tom Jones

Parody Song Title:

"She's A Maybe"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Well, she drawls but never taunts
She's just kinda like I'd want
She could be thinner
With a sorta pretty face
She's not vile, she's not base
She's no sinner

She's a maybe
No, yes, no, she's a maybe
Noggin's in doubt, a little dazy
Should the lady be mine?

Well, she's clever with her praise
But she makes me go away
When she's undressin'
I must leave her lovely home
Makin' me complain and moan
And that's so stressin'

She's a maybe
So so-so, she's a maybe
Walkin' around a little crazy
And it's fazing my mind

Well, she's never crass, merry touch
And she's so amusing
Should I meet her and connect?
'Twas never so confusing

On the fence, this heart of mine
And I don't want a loser
Helpless, filled with doubtin'
Should I split or smile and stay, yea, nay, yea?

Will she grow a lot more stout?
Will her baking make me proud?
Or make me queasy?
Will she scold me when I'm stewed?
I don't know what I should do
I'm so uneasy

She's a maybe
No, yes, no, she's a maybe
Lost in a cloud, a little hazy
I should make up my mind

Yah, nah, yah, she's a maybe
So so-so, she's a maybe
Wish I were more gleeful, she's a maybe

Yah yah nah nah, she's a maybe
No, yes, no, she's a maybe
Talkin' 'bout vows, a little hasty

Oh, woe, don't know, go slow, so-so
No, yes, no, she's a maybe
Yah nah yah, she's a maybe
No, yes, no, she's a maybe
Can I live without her? That's a maybe
No, yes, no, she's a maybe

New research findings underscore the crucial role this song played in the spurring the Feminist Revolution. Up until the release of this song, American women had been mostly content with their lot. But mere nano-seconds after the lyrics -- But she always knows her place. She's got style she's got grace, She's a winner -- polluted the airways for the first time, American women rose up in one voice and said, "That's it. We're tired of this sh*t"

Thanks, CML, for the v/c and the research findings, of which I was unaware. I meant this to be a take on how Tom Jones would have sung it had he been one of those commitment-phobic types. I guess I should have stated that above the lyrics.

I wasn't making any sort of judgment about you, Leough, or your parody. I was just making a crack about the breathtaking swine-ishness of Tom Jones's original song. My own father was pretty much a typical WWII-generation social conservative, but even he found this song apalling.

Thanks, Jonathan!
CML: I'm in complete agreement with you about the OS. That's what makes it such a perfect target for parody. And I have to listen to the OS every time I listen to the Kim Komando radio show, which gave me the idea of doing the parody. Somebody ought to do one to "Desperado", entitled "Kim Komando."
