The Lyrics

As promised, another "Moody Blues" OS...
Think it stinks that we use torture
even worse is that you do it in God's name
When it's time for you to face your Lord
will you explain?

Must be some way that is better
When you torture folks they tend to tell you lies
They will tell you what you want to hear
Are you surprised?

Justified by liars; we've been learning
Bastards lying to us everyday
It's time now to be somewhat more discerning
Because these assh*les will not tell the Truth; no way

Still, they act like frightened children
They're still living in denial; it is plain
If it's "Truth" that you are waiting for
Well, you'll have to wait

Pissing away lives; all for nothing
Telling still more lies every day
We're stuck in a quagmire and we're learning
That we've been lied to by these assh*les all the way

They behave like spiteful children
Still more lives are getting flushed right down the drain
Still these Scumbags bang the drum of War
Have they no Shame?

When someday all this is over
We are sure to be disgusted by it all
They can only hide these kind of lies
for just so long...
{don't they know that torture's wrong?}

werrd bit of synchronicity as the download of your recorded version of this popped up just as i was bringing up the posted lyrics...this is a direct hit, good message and a nice reworking
Paul Robinson - March 28, 2006 - Report this comment
well, that's "timing" for you, isn't it? Thanks, alvin...

Good thing I already had the song.

The truth hurts... Moving. 555.
BTW, since not all of the best parodies are "lol funny", perhaps we could substitute "perceptive" or "expressive" for the "funny" vote button if appropriate?

Thanks, Pat...Tommy T - yeah...actually, a lot of voter's (most, I have found) take that into consideration on "serious" pieces...Thanks!

Reading some of these parodies is like being put on the rack... and I haven't been part of a naked pyramid since Johnny D talked me into going down to Plato's Retreat... (Just a joke! It didn't really happen...) But "we" don't use torture. Our appointed government does. Which, I suppose, makes your point. Five of them, in fact.

Good one.

I voted yesterday and, thought I commented but, I guess it didn't take. Here's five lashes for a sore subject, well written.

MP, Larry H, Philbo and Rick C - Thank you! I didn't know if I would be hearing from the "Pro-Torture" group or not. I was a bit taken aback about a week or so ago...some poll showed that "Christians", or at least folks who identified themselves as such, were, as a group, more likely to be "in favor" of using torture than any other group...Jeez...or maybe I shouldn't say that...would that mean they thought it was OK to torture and then Crucify Jesus Christ? I mean...oh, I guess I don't have to explain what I mean...but WHAT GOD are those folks 'serving' with that kind of mindset?
Phil Alexander - March 29, 2006 - Report this comment
It's a god they've shaped in their own image: if they think it's OK, and they believe in God, then they also believe their god must think it's OK... and you can't argue 'cause God's on their side :-(

Paul this was really spot on. And someone needed to speak out about about this barbaric, inhumane, and illegal practice that violates not only the Geneva Convention, the Anti Torture Ammendment, but the very core of any decent human morals. 555+
Paul Robinson - May 04, 2006 - Report this comment
Philbo & carol...sorry I missed your remarks until now...Phil, yes, that appears to be the 'logic' in place with this group...carol - yeah, and it would be plenty bad enough if all the people they did this to actually DID anything wrong...not necessarily the case, though...lots of cab drivers and other ordinary folks swept on because 'someone said' they might be terrrorists...turns out that someone might just have been someone with a grudge...or maybe just someone who owed them money...or whatever...seems "human decency" is somewhat of an elusive subject to our current Administration. Thanks!
