"Living On An Island"

Original Performer:

Status Quo

Parody Song Title:

"Radioactive Island"

Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

I'm no wacky conspiracist but it doesn't take a genius to understand that the unrest in the Middle East is a cover up for a large scale zombie outbreak, that the heated debate over global warming is becoming hypothermic and that the recent tsunami and multiple nuclear plant destruction in Japan was caused by Godzilla & Co escaping Monster Island yet again…

Meltdown in reactor one
In the land of rice and rising sun
Soon we'll hear the whole world pray
It's Godzilla coming back to slay

Radioactive island, monsters from another time
And I'll bet Rodan will come and join the grime

Firebreath will melt your face
Mothra might become your doom
As Ghidorah joins from space
They'll kick the shit out of that crap New Moon

Radioactive island, monsters of an old design
And I'll bet Anguirus is still malign

Stomping towns to waste, and bonsais
Sinking teeth in To-ky-old style
TV, on TV

Radioactive island, all of it's overrun
Radioactive island, monsters show up one by one
Radioactive island, smashed up are the old Japan
And I'd say Godzilla's breath, could use more bran
And I'll bet that birthers think she's Kenyan

Japan was big, now an isle
Yeah, it's down to an isle
Where people hue and cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry, cry

Pacing Note: "Radioactive" is one syllable more than "Living on an" but IMHO the "ioa" tripple comes out much more like two when sung in the same way and at the same pace as the original.

Peter - You surely know your Japanese monster movies! Lots of clever references, and guts points for addressing the unspeakable. BTW, can you fix me up with those two tiny Mothra girls? ;D

OMR: Thanks for the vote and comment. I wrote this one on the fly-by on Saturday, after I had voted in the SOTY and gotten an urge to make a minor contribution after having been MIA here on Amiright for a while. At that time the main problem still was reactor number one and any real meltdown still officially considered unlikely, i.e more or less media fearmongering to sell newspapers. Between that and the Tuesday update (what happened to Monday's?) all Hell apparently broke loose in number three, four and two too. How could I have seen that coming?
