| Parody Song Title: | "Stock Called Enron" |
| Parody Written by: | C.R. Linsey |
Says he's bankrupt, Mr. Lay
Had to resign the other day
In September said his stock was sound
Now he's living in another town
And the mansions
They're not even up for sale
He's still free
Think he ought to be in jail.
In broken dreams we walk alone
Took our savings and our homes
Beneath the shelter of Arthur Anderson
He claims he doesn't know what they have done
Our cash was gone
In a flash at the speed of light
That split the night
And crushed the stock called Enron.
And in the naked light we saw
Millions of dollars, maybe more
Draining our savings, taking all our dreams
Stealing our futures with their hidden schemes
Keeping secret fears that Enron never shared...
They didn't dare
Disturb the good investors.
"Fools," said Ken, "you do not know
Enron losses like a cancer grows."
"Hear my words that I might teach you,
Our attorneys will try to reach you."
But his words like silent raindrops fell,
And crushed the stock called Enron.
And investors, they all prayed
To the man that they once paid.
And the Dow flashed out its warning
In the numbers that they were forming.
And the Dow said: "The words of accountants
Are shredded on the office floor
Ken's out the door,
He crushed the stock called Enron.
Had to resign the other day
