"The Devil Went Down to Phoenix"

Parody Written by:

The Phoenix Suns probably made the biggest trade of the season when they dealt Stephon Marbury and Penny Hardaway to the New York Knicks. The Knicks are in the playoffs again, and as for Phoenix...well, they'll be back, too, with a couple of young forwards in Amare Stoudamire and triple-double threat Shawn Marion.
The devil went down to Phoenix, he was looking for some Suns to steal
They were way behind, they were in a bind, so they had to make a deal
They went up to New York, and shipped their best point guard out
And knew he wanted to be a Knick, and said: "Zeke, lemme tell you what:

I guess you didn't notice, but we're a team that seems to lose
And we need a good guy from this trade, who can straighten out this crew
Now I know he's New York born and bred, and his dream will soon come true
I'll even throw Penny in the deal, to make your poor Knicks break through."

The man said: "My name's Isiah, and I think losing is a sin
And I'll take Stephon, yessiree, Bob, and the Knicks will be good again."

Isiah, rebuild your squad and get them in shape hard
Cause hell's broke loose in Phoenix and the Knicks deal the cards
And if you succeed, this here team, will have made good hires
But if you fail, Zeke, they will fire!

The Suns' Shawn Marion crashed the boards in the course of the evening's show
And on the offensive end, he made a slam-dunk, you know
Then the ref whistled personal foul, and he made an evil hiss
The defender confronted the ref, and he yelled something like this:

(series of whistle blows and referee yelling, "Foul!")

Stephon Marbury told Marion: "It's your team now, son
So let me alley-oop to you, for a dunk, and just show them how it's done!"

Gone is Penny Hardaway
In his place, a stud named Amare
Penny went with Stephon Marbury
Now this is Shawn Marion's team!

(instrumental break)

The Knicks celebrated, the Suns knew they'd been beat
But Phoenix still has Marion, around whom they'll build their team
And Marion says: "Me and Stoudemire, next year, we will win
And we'll tell you now, West, you son of a bitch, we'll all be back again!"

Gone is Penny Hardaway
In his place, a stud named Amare
Penny went with Stephon Marbury
Now this is Shawn Marion's team!

Good pacing, especially

Not only was this a great parody, but I think this is a totally underused song for parodying.....
