I'm baaaaack. More or less. I just really miss the hell out of leaving new parodies for everyone so I came up with this one recently to share with you all. Enjoy!
I'm Popeye the sailor man
Popeye the sailor man, I yam
I yam in love with my Olive Oyl
She's one very special goil
And every time she's in trouble (oh no)
I'm saving her skinny ass again (I yam)
She's my biggest fan, I'm Popeye
Popeye the sailor man
Second verse, can't get worse..
I'm Popeye the sailor man
Popeye the sailor man, I yam
I get hassled by this great big nuisance
His name is Bluto, or is it Brutus?
And every time that I'm fighting him (bully)
I squeeze that spinach right out of the can (the can)
I do the best I can, I'm Popeye
Popeye the sailor man
------ lead guitar ------
I'm Popeye the sailor man
Popeye the sailor man, I yam
I have this "infink' that they call Swee'Pea
And my Pappy looks a lot like me
And there's this guy who loves hamburgers (Wimpy)
Then along comes that old Sea Hag again (again)
I don't give a damn, I'm Popeye
Popeye the sailor man
P-O-P-E-Y-E
Popeye (Popeye)
Popeye (Popeye)
Popeye the sailor man, I yam
Popeye the sailor man
Yeah!
Popeye the sailor man, I yam
I yam in love with my Olive Oyl
She's one very special goil
And every time she's in trouble (oh no)
I'm saving her skinny ass again (I yam)

Welcome back! There was just one teeny pacing stumble...not even enough to affect the score. The part where you spelled out Popeye has one too many syllables. But, 5's in all.
ARRRHHH MATEY, HERE BE FIVES FOR YE, AH-YEG-EG-EG-EG-EG-EG !!!
Clever combination. 4-5-5
Great idea. Way to flex yer muskles.
I have ALWAYS loved that cartoon character. The way he is drawn and the voice just crack me up. Good tribute.
Brings back memories of when I was a wee little infink. Good job includink the names of so many characters, and both names of Popeye's woyst enemy.
Agagagagagagah! Five cans o' spinach for you (it builds muscles, so I'm told) ;-)
excellent! 5's
SOTM (Spinach oversizes the muscles?) of November. Given the cartoonesque feeling of the original this set of lyrics to the music would work excellent as the soundtrack for a Popeye episode.
[SOTM] DKTOS and didn't vote, but you parodied the original cartoon show very well : )
(SOTM) dktos soz. phew could popee stuff though
(SOTM) I liked the use of "yam" Mikey, given it's Popeye and all - and you managed to include all the characters- - half of who I'd completely forgotten - nice idea well done - 555
(SOTM) I second Peter's and Stu's comments. And tri-fives!
(SOTM) Very hard to sing this to the original, what with the spinach verse and the P-O-P-E-Y-E.. I would have ended it differently for that reason.
Love the OS!!! Love this even more!!!
Here's MY pacing whine: In the OS, "Henry" is pronounced with three syllables: "Enery," and it's a bit challenging to stretch out "Popeye" like that. I won't whine about anything else, however. Nice job squeezing in all of the references to the cartoon. I particularly like "saving her skinny ass" and "Bluto, or is it Brutus?"
(SOTM) Hee-hee-hee. Nicely done. First Popeye-related parody I've seen, and it's brilliant.
(SOTM) Excellent :-)
Are you going to follow this one up with a Henry VIII parody to "Popeye the Sailor Man" theme tune? That might be just about as much fun...
SOTM - Very well done. Good use of the stories and characters.
(SOTM) I struggled a bit with the pacing, Mikey...but still enjoyed this alot. 455
(SOTM) A bit clunky in places but not bad. Keep eating your spinach now...
(SOTM) See above! Pacing could be better, but still very entertaining.
Very clever idea for a title, and several good lines like "infink."
I liked the 'saving her skinny ass' line and the 'Bluto or Brutus' line as well. I also thought the 'Sailor man/I yam' couplet and thought it worked well. Could use some tweaks but overall not a bad parody.
Good idea; well done.
I HATED THIS HEAP OF TRASH !!! APRIL FOOLS !!! I loved it! 555
what is wrong with you man? this song was probably the worst one i've read yet, (bluto style from "Cookin' With Gags") APRIL FOOLS !!! (spongebob laugh)
