The Lyrics

The US recently sent most of its troops home from Iraq after nearly a decade of fighting and occupation. Tour after tour and surge after surge spanning 9 years, Obama brought the majority of troops home over objections by military strategists on the stability of Iraq's fragile Govt. At leat 4000 troops are still there and the US Army wants at least 10,000... but the equipment rolled over the Kuwaiti border and so any new conflict will either be decided by the Iraqis themselves in a civil war of Shia vs Sunni vs Baathist... or we will have to return if Iran rolls into the south at any time of their choosing. There's also the threat of Turkey invading from the North to crush the Kurds and take the northern oil fields. But hey, we failed in OIF to get a coalition of 250,000 needed (France and Germany stayed out) to take control of the nation and we also allowed the civilian population to remain armed- a big mistake. We went from WMD search to "Freedom". The only freedom the Iraqis ever got was freedom to starve, be displaced, or be killed by insurgents. In the end, US troops were happy just to get the hell out of Iraq (to be deployed somewhere else in the ME). The victory is hollow. US casualties are almost 4500 killed, 32,000 wounded, 60% with PTSD, and a cost of $850 billion!!! Iraqi killed and wounded at hundreds of thousands with millions displaced.
So, so, so so
The US made an exit

So, so, so so
The US made an exit

Exit! By US
Exit! By US
Exit! By US
Exit! GONE! GONE!

Bush declared victory in '03
Occupation forces then disagreed
Fighting in Iraq for years was insane
Several tours for troops led to much strain

We were worn down, worn down, down
We were homeward bound, yes, homeward bound

[Chorus]
I’m just a Soldier tool, occupation was cruel
But the US made an exit, early
I’m just a Soldier tool, occupation was cruel
But the US made an exit, early

So, so, so so
The US made an exit

So, so, so so
The US made an exit

Exit! By US
Exit! By US
Exit! By US
Exit! GONE! GONE!

I shouldn’t hate that war fought daily
True victory had always been delayed
Tried to show Iraqis another way
Even over Saddam's dead body

We were worn down, worn down, down
We were homeward bound, yes, homeward bound

I’m just a Soldier tool, occupation was cruel
But the US made an exit, early
I’m just a Soldier tool, occupation was cruel
But the US made an exit, early

So, so, so so
The US made an exit

So, so, so so
The US made an exit

[Bridge]
In the most practical sense,
Strategy was ridiculous
W, in defense, didn't use his mind
And in the cultural sense
There was too much difference
Islamo-fascists took offense,
The fight wore us out over time

I wanted to leave here,
Couldn't stand occupation for more years
Forget US values,
Get me to a Hummer to climb into
Climb into...

I’m just a Soldier tool, occupation was cruel
But the US made an exit, early
I’m just a Soldier tool, occupation was cruel
But the US made an exit, early

So, so, so so
The US made an exit

So, so, so so
The US made an exit

Exit! By US
Exit! By US
Exit! By US
Exit! GONE! GONE!

My 59th GaGa parody. I thought the Iraq exit was worth it :)
