Band Name Origins:

  • According to Steve Richards, TapRoot's vocalist, the name TapRoot is a perfect word to define the band both lyrically, musically, spiritually and emotionally. "Mike[Guitar] brought up the word 'taproot' to me on the phone as he was flipping through a thesaurus. It's the main root that others stem off of, and I was really excited because I know that in earth medicine of native tribes, taproot means the soul/spirit, which is a major subject in my lyrics." Steve's words contribute to the transcendent quality of TapRoot's music. "Lyrically, it's very spiritual and uplifting. Musically, I like to call it heavy alternative." While TapRoot as a band is not easily defined, their introspective, thought provoking content and style suggests that there is much below the surface to explore Submitted by: PunkDuck

Story about this misheard lyric by: Ezra

I knew it wasn't the right lyric, but I thought it was funny because a guy was singing it.

Nonsensical Lyrics:

"Facepeeler"
The Nonsensical Lyrics:
My skin's a lie
Why They're Nonsensical:
Okay, since this is a new song now, the real lyrics aren't posted, but you can hear a 'k' in the line. And anyway, how your skin be a lie?

"Poem"
The Nonsensical Lyrics:
this song is a, poem to myself, it helps me to live...
in case of fire, break the glass,
and move on into your own...
Why They're Nonsensical:
First of all, if the song is a poem to yourself, why are you singing it to other people. Secondly, what does fire have to do with anything? I get the part about breaking the glass to get the fire extinguisher out I guess, but then, what's the last line mean?
