- Sounds like the name of an Adult Entertainment film studio like Evil Angel, X-treme, or Vivid Submitted by: Robert D. Arndt Jr.
- Another sickening-sounding band name. The word pussy traditionally means "cat", but lately it has come to mean something much more vulgar. I wouldn't want a band with this kind of name! Submitted by: Mac

"Dissident Seeks Leniency"
A Russian court recently turned down an attempt by an imprisoned Pussy Riot band member to defer serving her sentence for hooliganism until her preschool son becomes a teenager. Maria Alekhina asked the court in Berezniki to let her serve the rest of her 2-year sentence after her 5 year old son Filipp turns 14. She argued that separation from her young child now would do irreparable psychological damage to him. Judge Galina Yefremova rejected Alekhina's petition, saying in court that sentenced her had already taken the child's existence into account.

"Winning Amnesty International Award"
Yoko Ono and Amnesty International awarded the Russian punk band Pussy Riot this year's LennonOno grant for peace. Ono presented the award to Pyotr Verzilov, husband of Nadia Tolokonnikova- one of three imprisoned members of Pussy Riot sentenced in August to two years in prison for performing a song mocking Russian President Vladimir Putin inside Moscow's main cathedral. The LennonOno Grant for Peace is given every two years in dedication to peace and human rights. Pussy Riot won on grounds of freedom of speech.

"Fleeing Russia"
Two Pussy Riot rockers have left Russia to avoid prosecution for the band's "punk prayer." The pair who fled have not yet been named but the husband of one of the jailed women said the duo had taken part in the cathedral protest in February. Here are the names of Pussy Riot: Maria Alyokhina, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Yekaterina Samutsevich. The three of them were found guilty of "hooliganism motivated by religious hatred" and jailed for two years. The Twitter account called Pussy Riot Group said: "In regard to the pursuit, two of our members have successfully fled the country! They are recruiting foreign feminists to prepare new actions!" Russian authorities are hunting for them...

"Anti-Putin Song, Arrest, and Trial"
At the opening of their trial on charges of inciting religious hatred, the three young members of the band Pussy Riot who performed a crude Anti-Putin song on the altar of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior said that they were prepared to take responsibility for "an ethical mistake". But they denied the formal criminal accusations of the prosecution. If convicted, they could each face 7 years in prison. The case has throw the spotlight on the resurgent close relationship that the government maintains with the Russian Orthodox Church. A morality lapse has been blamed partially for the collapse of the FSU. Morality laws are enforced in Russia and in this incident 10 victims claim "moral damage" was inflicted. Pussy Riot claims that their song was political.
